Probus club speakers zoom to new heights

Members of the Babbacombe and St Marychurch Probus Club have been enjoying ‘high altitude’ talks at its most recent ZOOM meetings.
Club member, David Hinchliffe presented over 150 images to describe his talk titled ‘Visiting the Alpine Front – World War I’.
Members had a much better understanding of the part played by Italy which was in conflict with its neighbouring countries of Austria/Hungary. David described in detail the mountainside areas which clearly demonstrated evidence of ‘look-out’ posts together with local museums featuring photos of barbed wire, hillside tunnels and trenches.
A week later Roger Avery gave an excellent illustrated talk on the 150 Tors on Dartmoor which he has climbed in recent years. His presentation included examples of plant life; animals and birds.
The next speaker on March 4 (today) is club member Ron Franklin, who has promised a talk about Peru which will include historical information on the Inca civilisation.
