Customers of Paignton’s Poundland have gone the extra mile to help those who need help.
Volunteer fund-raiser Sue Petford teamed up with store manageress Amy Millington to encourage customers to take part in a special initiative where when paying for their shopping they were asked to donate an add on item to charity.
Sue was taken aback and revealed: “The response has been off the scale and has enabled me to distribute the items to various charities and causes within the Bay. They need a huge thank you.”
A special donation was made at the English Riviera Conference Centre in Torquay which is being used for Covid vaccinations as a thanks to NHS doctors, nurses and volunteers for their ‘amazing dedication and smooth operation’.
Community-supporting charities to benefit included dementia awareness charity Purple Angel, the Paignton-based Thrive Project for the vulnerable and needy and Torquay Rotary Food Bank.
