Tanny Stobart, director of Play Torbay, said: 'We are delighted with this new initiative which will ensure as many children as possible will be able to have great interactive play sessions with us in these difficult times of the pandemic when we can not deliver our normal play sessions.

'The play packs are full to the brim with lots of amazing stuff to make and do and we shall be contacting all the families by phone to let them know about how they can join with friends and come Zooming with play packs online over the next eight weeks.'

Tanny added: 'Play Torbay can also make contact individually about ways to use the play pack and each Friday there will a live video session for everyone on Facebook from one of our adventure playgrounds with fun things to try at home and a chance to check how the chickens are managing through the 'lockdown'.'

A lot of the materials in the play packs are from the Children's Scrapstore in Bristol, a reuse charity dedicated to helping businesses divert reusable waste away from landfill to improve play and creativity for children and families – making waste things play things.

Lynne Roberts, neighbourhood partnerships manager at Sanctuary Housing, said: 'Now, more than ever, it is important for children and their families to remain active and these packs will allow them to do that in a fun and creative way.'

If you know a family who would enjoy a play pack, let Play Torbay know and they will see if they can help.
