Torbay youngsters have taken lockdown entertainment to a new level with a project to create a picturesque pathway of decorated stones and pebbles in the gardens of Oldway Mansion.
Organised by the Devon Rocks and Stones Facebook group, the original idea was for children to decorate a stone and hide it for another child to find.
During the Covid-19 lockdown, this concept morphed into a fabulous 'snake' decoration along the top of a wall in the gardens of the iconic Torbay location.
'When I was working, I could hear all the children running around with excitement as they arranged the decorated stones,' said Jo Jones, a volunteer gardener at Oldway. 'During lockdown, kids have had the time to paint a load more stones. We have almost 2,000 now in the gardens and it would be amazing to aim for the record of 8,000.'
