Details and advice given for Torbay Windy Corner roadwork delays

As part of the ongoing Inglewood development, roadworks at Windy Corner are set to begin on Monday, 16th September 2024, with completion planned by Christmas 2024. Both Dartmouth Road and Brixham Road will remain open throughout the works, which will be managed under traffic control.

The project will start with the removal of traffic islands, and during this period, the Windy Corner junction will operate with temporary traffic lights. Depending on the stage of the work, the lights will alternate between 3-way and 4-way sequences. To help minimise disruption, the lights will be manually operated from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, although delays are expected as temporary lights tend to be slower than permanent ones.

For Galmpton residents, the Langdon Lane access to the A379 will be closed for the duration of the works. Residents and commuters are advised to:

  • Allow extra time for journeys, especially during peak hours.
  • Travel between Brixham and Paignton during off-peak times, where possible.
  • Consider using public transport or car sharing, particularly for children attending schools in the Churston/Brixham area.
Show patience with other road users.
  • Additionally, many side roads, such as Bascombe Road in Churston and those through Waddeton village, are not suitable for heavy traffic or larger vehicles. Using these roads as shortcuts could worsen congestion rather than save time.
