If you've been involved in carrying out any building project – large or small, then you've probably heard of Inter-Line Building Supplies and seen their green dumpy bags around the Bay.

They're one of the biggest local names in the construction industry and they've been helping the building trade and homeowners with their supplies since 1976.

The company has thousands of products available, including tools, hardware, plumbing supplies, paint, electrical equipment and much more. They offer delivery throughout Devon.

It’s been an exciting 2023 for the company, doubling the size of their Brixham branch and opening two new branches in Teignmouth and Dawlish after acquiring Morris & McGinn.  This brings their total branches to seven stretching up to Exeter, Totnes, Paignton and Torquay.

As Neil Robinson, Inter-Line director, said: “We are thrilled to open more branches and now have almost 100 local employees helping to keep the local economy strong and thriving. That's one way in which we make sure that every customer gets great service from start to finish: no matter how big or small the job is.”

Inter-Line also have 14 vehicles all differing sizes and configurations to help with supplies across the area – even as far away as Seaton and Salcombe.  With their own in-house mechanical workshop, they can become more efficient in maintaining all their vehicles to ensure reliable deliveries throughout the area.

But what makes Inter-Line so special? As it is a local family-run business, they are firmly grounded in the local community. Moreover Stan Moreing who founded the company over 40 years ago, must be one of the most benevolent of local businessmen – a philosophy which radiates throughout the whole company.

That means that Inter-Line know how important it is to support local businesses, charities and giving back to the community.

They have donated over £250,000 to local charities including RNLI, Rowcroft Hospice, Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and many more great causes.

They also donate materials and tools to local community organisations like Play Torbay, Hookhills Community Centre, Friends of Brixham’s Battery Gardens, Babbacombe Corinthians Sailing Club – to name just a few.

It doesn’t stop just in the Bay. Inter-Line has just donated a £3,000 generator which is being delivered to Ukraine, in a project inspired by retired Torquay carpenter Charlie Allansen. Charlie has worked tirelessly with local businesses and is delivering 22 generators to Ukraine to help the hospitals, children’s’ homes and community centres.

And to top it off, Inter-Line also support local events like the Brixham’s Pirate Festival, Torbay Air Show, Paignton’s Children’s Week and, of course, the Torbay Weekly Naturally Inspiring Business Awards, celebrating local success in the Bay.

Local tradesman Callum Hamill, who has been a regular Inter-Line customer for years, said: "If you need help with your building supplies, then you should definitely give Interline a call. They have over 40 years of experience in the trade, so they know what they're doing. They have a great reputation for providing a high quality service at an affordable price and of course, reliable deliveries.”

Angela George has been using the Brixham branch for over 10 years. She said: "I love going to the branch - the staff are always so friendly and helpful and now the store has doubled in size, there are so many products there even a Dulux Paint Mixing machine."

Inter-Line have also won 15 awards for their work on both a national and local basis, including being voted Overall Business of the Year at the South Devon Business Excellence Awards in 2011.

As Neil said: "Inter-Line are delighted to be sponsoring the Young Business Person category in this year’s Torbay Weekly Naturally Inspiring Business Awards, so please encourage everyone to enter these awards and help celebrate the great successes in the Bay.”

Torbay Weekly editor Jim Parker said: "I would like to say a big thanks Stan, Neil and Inter-Line for their support for our business awards. They are truly a community-focused company and a shining light for others."
