Remembering the fallen at sea as well as on land in Torbay

Those who made the ultimate sacrifice were remembered on land and at sea for Remembrance Sunday in Torbay and South Devon.

Torbay RNLI volunteers joined events in Brixham to honour those who have served, and those who have fallen.
Members of the lifeboat crew joined the Service of Remembrance at the Brixham War Memorial and the parade through the town.

Crew members also participated in a service at sea off Elberry Cove, Brixham, where, following a reading by Helen Lovell-Smith of the Fishermen's Mission flowers were scattered from the RNLI All-Weather Lifeboat.

The Remembrance Parade assembled at the Man and Boy Statue on Kings Quay before moving to Berry Head Road for the main service.

Attendees observed the two-minute silence at 11am, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony. The event was attended by Councillor Hazel Foster, Deputy Mayor of Torbay, and her consort Kevin Foster, also now president of the Paignton Royal British Legion.

The Dart RNLI took part in the Dartmouth Remembrance Sunday march and service in Royal Avenue Gardens. Helm Rich Eggleton laid a wreath on behalf of the Dart lifeboat family.  

A mercy mission convoy from Brixham heading for Ukraine also laid a wreath while in Poland. Volunteer Jonathan Parr, who led the convoy, laid the wreath at the site of the massacre of Polish army officers on Russian Orders from Stalin. A further wreath was sent to Sumy with an ambulance full of medical supplies from Brixham.

And the emergency services were also well represented at all the services
