A small army of groups and organisations are coming together in the Bay to promote World Cancer Day.
Torbay Council will be hosting a special event on February 4 to mark the information-sharing day.
A spokesman said: "One in two people will develop some form of cancer in their lifetime and this event aims to raise awareness of the support available locally and nationally as well as the importance of early detection."
The event is being supported by Director of Public Health, Lincoln Sargeant.
There is a chance for people to drop in on the Assembly Hall in Lymington Road, Torquay, between 10.30am and 1.30pm.
The spokesman said: "Cancer affects us all in some way and everyone is invited. There will be local support groups, information about spotting signs of cancer from dedicated charities, fFinancial guidance, Wellbeing and complementary therapy, including Shiatsu taster sessions, lifestyle support, refreshments, and more."
Breast Cancer Now will be delivering a talk at 11am.
Some of the organisations which will be attending include Age UK Torbay, Bowden Springs Farm, Cancer Lifeline, Cancer Research UK, Devon Macmillan – Citizens’ Advice, FORCE Charity, Health Connect Coaching, Healthwatch, Kidney Cancer UK, Mouth Cancer Foundation, Myeloma UK, Nicola Jane, The Lodge, Swallows Head and Neck Cancer Support Charity, Samsara Retreat, Shiatsu for Change, Torbay Prostate Support Association, Torbay Carers Service, Torbay Disability Information Services and Your Health Torbay.
