Over the past five months, Paignton Library has been delivering mindful art sessions for young people aged 14-25 in Torbay.
Funded by the National Centre for Creative Health, these sessions were set up to support young people within Torbay in feeling a sense of belonging within the library, to consider mindfulness techniques within art, and to have creative expression for themselves. Over the sessions, we looked at different art forms, working as a collective, and created beautiful artwork on the library windows for all to see!
Cantara, 14, who has been attending the sessions, said, 'I like the creative minds group because we did a variety of different art styles and media. I would definitely go again. I loved the atmosphere and that everyone got along. I also loved that in some parts we could choose what we wanted to do! It was a good experience.'
Creative Minds sessions will be up and running again in January and will take place each month on the following dates:
Tuesday 28th January- 4pm-5pm
Tuesday 25th February- 4pm-5pm
Tuesday 25th March- 4pm-5pm
Why not come along in the new year and try something new? Are you looking to meet new people while being creative? Creative Minds may be the place for you! Do contact Paignton Library if you would like to book your place. All those who join the sessions will receive a free art pack and snacks—there is no obligation to attend each month, just when you can! We look forward to seeing you there.
