Temporary lights taking a lifetime to change on Brixham Road? There's a reason

Many motorists may have noticed that the temporary lights on Brixham Road at Paignton can take an age to change.

Large queues are forming with seemingly no direction of traffic moving.

One motorist reported that they waited over five minutes at the lights with cars in all directions at a standstill.

Torbay Council has spoken out on the issue, blaming drivers who are jumping the lights rather than waiting, causing the system to go into an emergency setting in which all lights go red until they are reset.

A spokesperson for Torbay Council said: "We are asking drivers to please comply with the temporary lights on Brixham Road at Paignton.

"Some have been driving through on red, triggering emergency mode which switches all lights to red until they reset themselves.

"This is causing needless long delays for everyone."
