Lauren Fox
Mid-Devon Cycling success
Mid-Devon CC starlet Lauren Fox followed up her victory in the South West Cyclo-Cross Championships with a fine third place in the Fifth Round of the National Trophy Series at Gravesend’s Kent Cyclopark on Sunday.
It was a first national podium for hugely promising Under-14 rider Fox, who was one of four MDCC riders to lift regional titles at Escot Park near Exeter the previous weekend.
She will have another season at the same age-level next year, when there’s every chance of her challenging for national honours.
Her result in Kent also helped to cheer up the mood in her family – elder sister Eva, who had also won the Girls U16 title at the SW Champs, broke her wrist during the week and couldn’t ride at Gravesend.
Other winners at the SW Champs had been Cathy Kilburn (Women’s Over50) and Freddie Simcock (Under10).
There were several other excellent performances at Escot, including Will Kelly’s sixth place in the Senior Men’s race.
