Seale Hayne
Support for Seale Hayne
A former well-known college and then charity campus in South Devon is being brought back to life with a series of business deals.
Commercial property agents Charles Darrow has revealed a series of successful commercial lettings at Seale Hayne, just outside Newton Abbot throughout 2023.
The firm has facilitated a diverse range of transactions, catering to the varying needs of businesses in the region.
Commercial lettings include a spectrum of spaces, ranging from single-office units measuring approximately 250 square feet, to expansive office spaces exceeding 2,000 square feet.
Seale Hayne, which for many will be remembered as a purpose build Agricultural College, then more latterly became a faculty of the University of Plymouth. Seale Hayne was then occupied by Dame Hannah Rogers Trust Charity, who ran the site for many years before the site was sold to European Land Limited in 2019, which saw Seale Hayne developed to offer an array of business units.
Charles Darrow was appointed the favoured agent to market the individual units, and 2023 has seen the highest number of lettings to date on the site.
Across the year, they have carried out a number of commercial lets to a range of operators - the first was to a Children's Charity group who occupied over 1.500 sq ft of office and educational space, followed in quick succession to a local quality café operator, The Coffee Room, who has since been in situ providing a range of breakfasts, light lunches, homemade cakes and super coffee to tenants and guests visiting the Seale Hayne.
The lettings continued during early summer, with four smaller office lets to local businesses looking for a rural location yet close to good transport links.
Later summer, premises were let to Autocomps, a new business offering parties the chance to win prizes via an online ticketing service with a further letting conducted to a large recruitment company who had outgrown their former space- Apollo Recruitment have taken over 700 sq ft within the main Quadrangle.
Charles Darrow have now announced that local chef, Louis Bennett of Creeping Thyme Restaurant is soon to be opening his fine dining restaurant within the newly developed “destination restaurant” set within the quadrangle.
The space has been developed to offer a high-quality venue and offer guests a unique setting within this Grade II listed building, with spacious internal seating for 40+ guests, and alfresco dining over the terrace for a further 30 covers to be opened shortly.
James Sanders, Associate Director at Charles Darrow, said: "The demand for flexible and functional office spaces has been on the rise, and Charles Darrow has been at the forefront, ensuring businesses find spaces that align with their operational requirements and growth plans. The strategic location of Seale Hayne, coupled with its rural location, makes it an attractive choice for businesses looking to establish or expand their presence in the area.”
