Stay warm with Torbay Hospital Radio
With the short winter days and the colder weather we do not need an excuse to try and stay warm.
Yes, you can put the heating on, but with escalating energy costs sometimes a little help is required to help us feel warm and cosy.
What better then, than a playlist of music that will leave you feeling toasty even on the coldest of days.
Of course there are all those Christmas tunes, but sometimes it is worth looking beyond those.
Yes, the trick is creating the right ambiance and maybe a duvet to send you in the right direction.
At hospital radio we are always looking for the right tunes, yes it maybe winter outside but there’s nothing wrong with it feeling like it’s spring inside.
We carefully plan our playlist and with this in mind I have sat down and thought what songs may do the trick, so see what you make of these. You probably can’t go wrong with Light My Fire, in particular the Jose Felicano version, which hopefully puts you in the mood.
You could then follow it up with Feliz Navidad, also by Felicano which includes the words, "I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas from the bottom of my heart", this song has become a Christmas classic.
That would be a good start on my list.
Now I know you will all have your own ideas and I recommend you organise your own playlist, perhaps using your smart speaker to help you.
Why not add Winter Song by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson, which admittedly is a ballad, but does encourage spending hours under warm blankets.
And if you just want that warm feeling inside you could try Moncrieff and his song Warm which explores the joy of being in love with heartfelt lyrics and soaring melodies. Lets face it there is nothing like being in love to give you that warm feeling inside.
Another that fits the bill perfectly is Laufey & Dodie’s Love To Keep Me Warm which has a fifties feel to it, but it is a 2020’s song. Laufey is an Icelandic singer-songwriter whose songs mix jazz and pop, she calls it "modern jazz", but do not let that put you off as they have excellent melodies, so why not give her a listen.
We are always exploring different artists and whilst there is still a place for the classics we all like to add a bit of variety to our shows and you will often find songs that are fresh to keep feeling warm and snuggly. Ask your smart speaker to play Torbay Hospital Radio and judge for yourself.
