Torquay United have maintained the 'pathway' from their youth Academy with the signing of teenage defender Callum Thomas to a senior professional contract.
The centre-back and captain of Ryan Dickson's youth team, which retained both the SW Counties Youth League and Cup in the spring, made a good impression in senior pre-season friendlies last summer.
Now, after another consistent season in the Gulls' youth team, Thomas has become manager Gary Johnson's 17th pro.
He follows in the footsteps of former Academy graduates like Olaf Koszela, Louie Slough, Jack Winsor, Lewis Brooks and Alex Moyes, but with the ambition to go one better and force his way into the first team on a regular basis.
Johnson and his assistant Aaron Downes will meet fans in Plainmoor's Boots & Laces pub this Thursday night (7.30pm) at a special 'Audience With..' evening for season-ticket holders only.
