Gas roadworks making good progress

Wales & West Utilities is progressing well with its £844,000 scheme to prepare the gas network for the future in Paignton.
The work, in the Totnes Road area, started on 27 September and is essential to keep the gas flowing safely to heat and power local homes and businesses. It involves upgrading over four kilometres of gas pipes and, barring any engineering difficulties, is due to finish at the end of May next year.
In planning the work, Wales & West Utilities has worked closely with Torbay Council. As the gas emergency and pipeline service continues to work along Totnes Road, it has been agreed that rolling traffic lights will continue to be in use so that engineers and the local community are kept safe.
Wales & West Utilities Programme Controller Roxanne Whittaker is managing the work and said: “This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses.”
