An appeal to raise £25,000 to help secure the future of a local club for disabled sailors has ended in success after less than three weeks.

The Dart Sailability charity sent out a big thankyou for the 'most amazing support' from the local community, people and organisations in reaching the target.

Principal Ian Wakeling said: "“We are absolutely astounded at people’s generosity. The support the charity has received is staggering."

The charity enables people with any type of disability to enjoy sailing and power boating on the River Dart together with a wide range of social activities. It is now looking forward to welcoming new and existing members for the start of the season in May to their new home is at Dartside Quay at Galmpton - the appeal was launched to finance the relocation.

Ian says: “For the first time we have our own clubhouse. Absolutely no sailing experience is necessary."
