Daisy's menu offers great choice for vegans

On December 30, 2019, Daisy’s Cafe opened its doors in Babbacombe Road, Torquay, for the very first time.
Back then, there was no pandemic or lockdowns in sight.
Daisy’s owner Craig McArdle most definitely did not expect to spend only ten months out of the last 20 months trading.
Despite this massive hurdle, Daisy’s Cafe has still managed to achieve the aim of being inclusive to everyone.
At Daisy’s they really do cater for everyone, from the vegans, the veggies, the meat eaters and coeliacs.
Being a vegan myself, it was so refreshing to hear Craig tell me: "Every time we add an item to our menu or create a special, we ask ourselves how can we make a vegan version of that?’"
You only have to look at the menu to see that this really is true because whether it is breakfast, brunch, lunch or sweet treats, there is an array of choice for vegans.

Alongside the menu, Daisy’s offers a barbecue in a bag for two people, which has equally been made available for vegans too.
The vegan barbecue in a bag includes sausages, burgers, salad, sides and marshmallows for toasting.
If that was not enough, on Saturday evenings from 7pm you can find Daisy’s open for dinner, serving a variety of vegan dishes from pies, burgers and their nightly specials.
I can confirm that Daisy’s really is truly amazing from my own dining experience.
I visited on a Sunday morning with my husband, two children and dog. Even my dog was made to feel welcome with her own bowl of water.
The staff were so attentive, whether it was making sure we had enough space because we had a pushchair or with taking our orders.
When the food arrived at the table, we were all well and truly blown away with what we had ordered.
My husband ordered the vegan breakfast which, of course, I just had to have a taste of myself.
Now if you did not know that you were eating vegan sausages, you would have probably not known these were plant based. They were delightful.
Amazingly the breakfast came with plant-based bacon. If you are a big vegan foodie, you will have most likely realised that it’s not often you find a vegan breakfast with bacon.
This was such a welcome addition. Not to mention how much the texture of the bacon resembled actual bacon.
The breakfast was also served with incredible home-made spicy beans, spinach, tomatoes and avocado.
There was not an ounce of disappointment with the food I had ordered, which was the vegan steak sandwich.
I am not usually a fan of plant-based steak alternatives, but this dish really did deliver on all fronts.
The texture and the taste did make me think for a moment I was eating steak; it was that good. Meanwhile, my daughter tucked into vegan waffles, with strawberries and vegan squirty cream.
The smile on my daughter’s face and the fact that my daughter got every single last bit off the plate, really did say how outstanding these waffles were.
Daisy’s has now become a firm favourite on the breakfast front, not just for myself but my family too!
So if you are that group of friends that can never decide on a place to eat because one of you is vegan, one is veggie, another is a meat eater and another one of you is coeliac, look no further than Daisy’s for your next meal out because there will be plenty of choice for everyone.
Daisy’s opening times are Wednesday to Sunday, 9.30am to 3pm, serving all things breakfast, brunch, lunch, yummy bakes and cakes. Not forgetting barista coffee.
Open Saturday evenings from 7pm, Daisy’s is fully licensed with a great selection of drinks, serving all day every day.
