Chad Nelson has done it!

Torquay teenager Chad went for a routine eye test last August and was immediately sent to Torbay Hospital where an emergency scan revealed he had a brain tumour.

It is non-cancerous but inoperable and has meant  Chad’s dream of joining the Royal Fleet Auxiliary has been shattered. But the 17-year-old decided to put that behind him and  raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity.

On Saturday he completed a 26-mile sponsored bike ride.

He set off with a small group of friends and family on the Exe Valley Trail stopping at the quayside in Exeter for a picnic lunch. In the second leg they followed the river southwards past Countess Weir and on to the finish at Dawlish Warren. On route the public kindly donated money. Chad's target was to raise £500. It stands at more than £3,800! Anyone wishing to donate please go to
