The Voluntary and Community Sector Covid-19 Grants Scheme was set up to provide some relief to the extra pressure those in this sector have felt over the past three months.

The scheme has supported organisations that have been providing meals and extra support to those most in need and sports groups that are struggling due to a reduction in fees and fundraising opportunities, but they have nevertheless continued to provide support to their members and the wider community.

Cllr Steve Darling, leader at Torbay Council, said: “Our community and voluntary sectors have really gone above and beyond in their response to the Covid-19 emergency. I am glad we have been able to support them through this grant scheme.”

Cllr Jackie Stockman, Cabinet member for adults and public health, said: “This pandemic has meant our community and voluntary groups, who have been on the frontline of the response to this emergency, have incurred a wide range of extra costs.

“I hope this grant scheme goes some way of helping them during this time.”
