Brixham Town Council has cancelled the Christmas lights switch-on event ‘Lanterns, Lights & ‘Luminations’ due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
But the town’s Christmas lights will not be dimmed – they will be brighter than ever.
The town council has added to and updated this year’s display in partnership with ‘Lighting Up Brixham’, the community group dedicated to enhancing the Christmas lights.
“The cancellation for November 28 might seem like a premature decision but it is important public money is not invested in an event that may have to be cancelled,” said deputy town clerk Linda McGuirk. “Such a well-attended event could not be safely socially distanced and a last-minute enforced cancellation would be costly. More and better Christmas lights will be switched on, but without the crowds.”
