Boris hands out £800,000 funding boost for Torbay schools
Three Torbay schools are to receive more than £800,000 to improve their facilities.
Curledge Street Academy and Oldway Primary School in Paignton will benefit from more than £485,000.
And Brixham College is to get almost £346,000.
The funding comes from the £560 million announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson last month as part of his New Deal for Britain, to help the nation bounce back from coronavirus by investing in infrastructure and skills, and creating jobs.
Torbay MP Kevin Foster said: 'This funding news is a welcome boost for fantastic local schools. Whilst the Victorian buildings at Curledge Street are impressive from the outside and solidly built, they are in need of attention. This funding will help keep these historic buildings serving Paignton's next generation for decades to come.'
The government says the new investment will ensure schools and colleges can focus on teaching, with brand new buildings and better facilities.
