The A38 Devon Expressway remains congested this afternoon after a collision led to a lane closure northbound near Chudleigh.

As of 4:16pm, Devon and Cornwall Police traffic monitoring reported queuing traffic and one lane closed on the A38 northbound between Marsh Lane at Harcombe Cross, Chudleigh, and Haldon Hill at Racecourse Junction, Kenn.

Congestion is stretching back towards the Chudleigh and Kingsteignton turn-off.

The incident was first reported at around 2:32pm today (26 February), when the road was described as partially blocked with slow traffic building.

By 2:53pm, the A38 northbound was reported as blocked due to the accident.

Further updates at 3:18pm and 3:31pm confirmed that one lane remained closed, with queueing traffic in the area.

The latest update indicates that traffic continues to build along the northbound carriageway of the A38, a key route linking South Devon with Exeter and the M5.

There has been no official confirmation at this stage regarding the number of vehicles involved or whether anyone has been injured.

Motorists travelling towards Exeter are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys and consider alternative routes where possible while the lane closure remains in place.

Updates are expected as the incident develops.
