MBE for Street Pastor champion Trevor

Torbay Weekly

Keeping our streets - and people - safer landed Trevor Staveley with an MBE.

Trevor, co-ordinator of the Torbay Street Pastors, was officially recognised by the Queen for services to vulnerable people and to the promotion of safer streets.

He said: "It has been a privilege to work alongside so many dedicated people . It came as a surprise that I was to be honoured.. I have always striven to promote Street Pastors as a caring group.

He added: "The Pastors is a group of like minded folk who care about the local community . The group has been joined recently by Newton Abbot Street Pastors.

"The pastors are there to listen and help anyone who needs them . They are non-judgemental and never preach. Street Pastors, once thought as preachers and not greeted warmly , have become friends of  police, ambulance, door staff, council and are known to be friends of all."
