Kings bowlers heading for Commonwealth glory

Torquay’s Kings Bowling Club will have a remarkable representation of five players in the England team at Birmingham's Commonwealth Games later this year.

They are among no fewer than seven players from Devon and two more from Cornwall in the 18-strong squad who will do battle at Leamington's Victoria Park from July 29-August 6.

Former gold medallist Sophie Tolchard will be joined by brother and current national singles champion Sam, while Kingsteignton's Natalie Chestney, who also won gold in Delhi in 2010, will have husband Jamie, who plays for the Culm Vale club, alongside her.

Kings also supply Taunton-born Louis Ridout and Jamie Walker, while Alison Yearling (Plymouth Hoe BC) completes the Devon contingent in the visually impaired competition.

It will be a fourth Games for Natalie Chestney and a third for Jamie, who said: "I'll definitely be aiming for gold and, as Nat already has one, it would be nice to match her.”
