One of the West Country’s most well-known and highly-respected public figures has given the first Torbay Weekly Naturally Inspiring Business Awards a major boost.
Karime Hassan, Exeter City Council’s Chief Executive and Growth Director, has agreed to be the guest VIP speaker at the awards finals night at the Imperial Hotel in Torquay on Thursday June 9.
Karime has been a champion of change, regeneration, collaboration and working together and has put Exeter well and truly on the map.
He was awarded an MBE for services to government in the Queen’s New Year Honours.
As the head of the paid service at Exeter his work with partners across the city has developed a strong culture of collaboration in support of the city of Exeter’s vision for a healthy, inclusive and sustainable city.
As Growth Director he has worked with the business sector to ensure the city and all its institutions pull together in the same direction making Exeter the fastest growing economy in the South West and 7th overall in the UK.
Torbay Weekly editor Jim Parker said: “To have Karime as guest speaker is an absolute honour and privilege. What a coup and the timing couldn’t have been better with him being awarded the MBE and the Bay on the cusp of a bright new future with millions of pounds being invested in the resort. He has been there and done it.
“Karime is totally inspirational and a superb fit for our first Naturally Inspiring Business Awards.”
A judging panel will sift through the award entries in a special session in the boardroom of sponsors Wollens solicitors tomorrow and will come up with a shortlist of finalists for the gala night.
