Hospice's heartfelt thanks for Meadow of Memories oak benches

Torbay Weekly

Rowcroft Hospice has said a heartfelt thankyou to Totnes-based Carpenter Oak who have donated two stunning solid oak benches for the charity’s meadow of memories in Torquay.
The Hospice plants a wildflower meadow each year and encourages people to dedicate flowers in memory of loved ones.  The new benches will provide a place for people to sit in quiet contemplation whilst viewing the stunning meadow.

Rebecca Cogger, In Memory Giving and Legacy Manager at Rowcroft, said: “Each year a beautiful wildflower meadow is sown in the gardens of Rowcroft hospice to celebrate and remember the lives of the people we love dearly and miss deeply. The meadow is a soothing place for anyone to visit.

"We wanted a bench on the edge of the meadow for people to sit and reflect on happy times gone by. I approached Carpenter Oak for some surplus wood, and they generously offered to not only supply the wood but make us two solid oak benches.

"The craftsmanship is outstanding and we are genuinely overwhelmed with how beautiful they are.  We are exceptionally grateful to Carpenter Oak for helping to make the meadow even more special – Thank you.”

Carpenter Oak Director Luke Copley-Wilkins said: 'When Rowcroft approached us about donating some surplus oak to make seating for their Meadow of Memories, we thought we should do something extra special for our local hospice. The benches are solid oak and have been handcrafted specifically for Rowcroft. To know that these benches will provide people who have lost loved ones, with somewhere to sit and reflect, means a great deal to myself and the Carpenter Oak team."
