National Hunt racing will finally return to Newton Abbot next Tuesday, July 7.

But, like all other racing in the UK and Eire at the moment, it will be behind-closed-doors.

In what will be a huge relief for Westcountry owners, trainers, riders and staff, the afternoon card will be followed by further meetings at Newton on July 24 (evening), August 5 and August 21 (evening).

As things stand, spectators will be barred from all those dates, but with Government Covid-19 restrictions being eased recently, there are hopes that supporters might be back before the delayed summer season at the track ends.

Meanwhile, the course is still unable to host any of its regular car boot sales or antique fairs.
