A wonderful artistic opportunity is on the table for local talent to design the front cover of the 2021 brochure for Teignmouth-based Majestic Holidays.

The brochure has gained a superb reputation for showcasing artists and celebrating the natural beauty of South Devon.

Laura Wall is a fantastic example of the exposure available from this opportunity, as a former cover artist for the brochure who is a highly successful artist, winner of Britain’s Best Up and Coming Artist in 2013, Entrepreneur of the Year in 2016 and twice the winner of Devon’s Best Art Gallery.

“I was commissioned to do the front cover piece for Majestic a few years ago and it was a fantastic opportunity for me as an artist,” said Laura.

“The brochure is sent all over the UK, as well as locally, so it was lovely coverage for me and a perfect fit, as we are literally based in the same street as Majestic.

“It was natural for me to produce a vibrant and happy front cover, celebrating local beauty with characters enjoying ice creams and the joy that comes with a holiday in South Devon.

“For any local artist aspiring to take up the Majestic, I would simply advise them to focus on the places that bring them happiness, somewhere they are passionate about, because that will result in the best artwork.

“It is about sparking the inspiration that will make people come down to Devon on holiday once lockdown is over.”

The passion for art has been within Laura ever since early childhood and, as well as running an art gallery in Teignmouth, she has produced a children’s book series called ‘Goose’ and offers a range of products celebrating naturally inspiring local beauty.

Like many businesses, Laura has been forced to change working habits during the lockdown but you can still order goods from www.laurawall.com and explore the wonderful world of ‘Goose’ at www.gooseandfriends.com

“I have always painted, right from childhood, it was my passion,” said Laura. “I became a professional artist and now have my own art gallery in Teignmouth, which has been open for around five years.

“We’ve obviously had to close the gallery through the lockdown but I’ve taken advantage of being at home, and having the time to paint. It has enabled me to explore some creativity and produce new artwork and products to launch when we are open again.

“Like every business, we want to come back stronger than ever. My art is predominantly based on South Devon landscapes, artwork that is full of light, colour and joyful pictures with lots of characters within the art.

“The idea is for people to choose from a variety of products that makes them feel happy and positive, whether it is tourists down on holiday or locals passionate about the beautiful area in which we live. There is so much inspiration to be found in South Devon.

“I have also written and illustrated a book for pre-school children featuring a character called Goose and a little girl called Sophie.

“We have published the book in around 40 countries across the world and I was in Thailand on a book tour just before the lockdown started.”

The partnership between Laura and Majestic Holidays is a great example of South Devon innovation and creativity.
