The Disabled Sailing Association Torbay has been awarded £10,000 of National Lottery funding from Sport England’s Community Emergency Fund towards the costs involved in keeping both yachts in a fit state during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.

Peter Turner, DSA chairman, said: ‘I am delighted we have been given this award to keep the yachts in a fit state to be able to resume activities, as soon as is practical and Government, health authority and RYA guidelines allow.

“We provide a unique service and it would be a great loss to the disabled community if we were not able to cover the costs of maintaining our yachts.”

Tim Hollingsworth, Sport England chief executive, said: “We are proud to be able to provide vital funding to the Disabled Sailing Association Torbay to help it through these extremely challenging times.”
