The bosses of fast-growing DP Cars knew it was time for a move - but staying in Torbay was a ‘priority’.
Now they have done just that and found the ideal new home for the business and its customers.
It had been based in Paignton on Hyde Road Corner since 1994. It grew to a point that it occupied an additional showroom across the road from the which allowed it to stock more vehicles for sale with more and more demand coming from not only the South Devon area but the wider UK as internet car searches and buying habits changed.
The opportunity to move arose when Nick Palmer, who ran a car business in Newton Road, Torquay, decided to retire.
The new single site is in a ‘great location’ near Torbay Hospital, in close proximity of other main dealer sites like Ford, Citroen, MG, Peugeot and Vauxhall. The opportunity was grabbed when it was advertised by Paul Bettesworth of commercial agents Bettesworths.

The new single site will improve daily logistics dramatically, and by being under one roof as opposed to the two showrooms the business will be able to operate with some reduced costs which can be passed on to customers.
The new showroom will have the same level of stock, 30 to 40 cars, and the business will have the same website.
The company has two directors, a mechanic and a valeter. Daryl Porter has been involved with the site in Paignton since leaving school in 1982 when it was Blacklers Paignton, a Rover main dealer. He joined as an apprentice mechanic before moving into the sales department in 1987.
After the closure of Blacklers Rover it became Richard Humphries Car Sales for a few years before it became Daryl Porter Cars in 1994. Daniel Salisbury joined as a director in 2004 bring with him a background from
main dealers and a specialist knowledge and background in motor finance.
DP Cars are a Trading Standards Approved Garage, with its own full time workshop. It inspects vehicles and has them independently MOT'd.
With Daniel Salisbury having a background in motor finance, the business regularly offers some special finance options including interest free deals and same day drive away.
With confidence in more customers making an online purchase and the ability to offer delivery the business regularly sees customers from all over.
A recent customer from North Shields purchased online and flew down to Exeter Airport as well as deliveries recently to Kent and Oxford.
Customer confidence is evident via the many online reviews, both on Autotrader and Google which enable potential customers to independently get a feel for how the business operates, the quality of service and some of the outstanding finance offers it runs.
