Donald dominates in Long Course Tenby Triathlon

There’s just no stopping Donald Brooks, over any triathlon distance, as he claimed the prestigious Long Course Weekend title in Tenby, Wales.

A triathlon spread over three days, Donald began the event with a 3.8k sea swim that saw him placed fifth overall and meant he was treated to a ramp start in the 112-mile bike ride.

Taking the win with the fastest bike of the day meant Donald had a three-minute lead to start the final marathon run. Posting a superb time of 2.41, as well as being first place, secured Donald the overall Long Course Weekend victory and with it the course record of 8.53.36

Torbay Tri Club members were in local action at the English Riviera Triathlon, with lots of fantastic performances over various distances. Julian Smith secured an impressive 3rd place overall (3.01.50) and was joined by Lewis Cholerton (3.18.43) over the standard distance race.

In the sprint distance, Helen Chappell won her age group (2:13.44), with Linda Bracher just behind and 2nd in her AG (2.20.25) and Richard Rollings was third in his AG (2.30.07). In the standard distance aquathlon, Jack Donovan (1.24.28) was also on the podium in 3rd place overall. Ben Flower took the win in the Aquabike race in 2.01.36

Taking to the water, Gary Burman and Paul Chamings completed the 3k swim while Rose Parkhouse swam 1500m and Becky Langman was first out the water over 750m.

Paul and Karen Frissen headed to the Goodwood Motor Circuit for their first standard distance duathlon, and it was Karen (2.20.46) who claimed bragging rights in the Frissen household, finishing just two minutes ahead of Paul (2.22.17).

Swapping the swim for some paddle board action, Chris Martin raced his way across water and land around Poole, completing the event in 2h 38m.

Nina Kyprianidis took to the River Dart for a 10k aquathlon, comprising a 5k swim and 5k (nearer 7k) run. Nina claimed top spot on the podium as first female over the distance.

Peter Hayward and Laraine Gibbins took part in the Balmy Bicton 10k. The duo ran strong races with Peter narrowly outside the top ten in 48.17 and Laraine first AG in 59.47.
