Devon Women's Football League: Torquay pick up the points in home win

Torbay Weekly

In the Joma Devon Women's Football League, rain affected pitches and Covid caused a number of postponements - two matches were played in each division.

In the Western Division, Torquay United put last week's defeat to one side as they collected three more points from a 5-3 home win against Signal Box Oak Villa.

Two goals by Hannah Bowring and one apiece from Hannah Rooney, Leanne Robbins and Abi Scandrett were enough to overcome a spirited away side, who replied through Chardonnay James, Poppy Glass and Katelyn Berry.

Shaldon Villa moved into third place having travelled to play Lakeside Athletic and returning with all three points following a comprehensive 10-0 result.

The home side are going through a difficult time and could only muster eight players which helped Shaldon's cause.

Millie Cox made the most of Lakeside's shortage to notch a hat-trick in each half, Naysha Paz came on as a second half substitute and helped herself to two goals. Debutante Megan McClure marked her first appearance with a goal and Niamh Preston capped a fine display with the goal of the game.
