Devon Farm Kitchen is an exciting new social enterprise gaining tremendous support from customers by delivering ‘Deliciously Satisfying’ frozen meals to people in their homes across South Devon.
Launched in the spring of this year, the business is now celebrating the delivery of its 1,000th meal.
With every penny of profit from the sales of the meals going to support Rowcroft Hospice in providing critical care for local patients with life-limiting illnesses, the dishes are handmade by Devon Farm Kitchen’s own chefs and include a range of soups, starters, mains and desserts.
Registered dietitians Sarah Jones and Debs Howland provided nutritional input in developing the meals.
They said: ”We have been delighted to be involved in such an exciting project, not only to support Rowcroft Hospice but also the nutrition of the people around us in our community.
"Food is important not only for energy and strength, but also for the healthy functioning of the immune system, maintaining independence and mental health, as well as supporting healing and recovery when needed.”
Set up in response to the increasing demand for convenient and healthy home-delivered food, Devon Farm Kitchen produces its meals using the finest British produce, with many ingredients sourced from Devon’s farmers, fishing communities and other local producers.
Delivered in cardboard boxes by Devon Farm Kitchen’s own drivers, the nutritious meals are easy to store and heat, and the drivers provide support to customers by happily answering any questions on cooking, storage and delivery.
Joe Bradshaw, general manager for Devon Farm Kitchen, said: “We are so pleased with the amazing feedback so far on our wonderfully tasty meals.
"Our chefs have spent a long while carefully crafting each meal with our dieticians, and the results speak for themselves.
"We are also committed to helping reduce our carbon footprint, by serving our delicious dishes on returnable ceramic plates and bowls, making it easy for our customers to cook in a microwave or conventional oven and then just eat and enjoy.

Devon Farm Kitchen is fulfilling an important service for local people, particularly elderly and vulnerable people, who may be unable or uninclined to prepare healthy meals for themselves.
Top-selling main courses include locally sourced roast beef and Yorkshire puddings, lamb loin, sausage and mash, Brixham fish pie and vegetable curry.
For sweet-toothed pudding lovers, some firm favourites are orchard apple crumble, jam roly poly, and chocolate and walnut pudding.
There’s also a scrumptious range of ice-cream from local Langage Farm at Smitherleigh for those who prefer a more chilled dessert.
