Dartington gardens re-open after lockdown

The Dartington Trust has re-opened the estate’s formal gardens.

The 26-acre Grade II* listed gardens feature stunning landscapes, sculptures by famous artists, and a unique collection of plants and ancient trees.

The 1,200 acre estate remains free for all to use. The White Hart and the Green Table Café are both available and do not need a garden ticket.

Mark Taylor, estate services director, said: “We have been very lucky to be one of the only formal gardens in the country to offer free entry for so long, but to ensure the future of the gardens, we have had to put this change (a charge for the gardens) in place.

“We hope that the local community will understand that we have made this change to be able to make Dartington sustainable and keep the rest of the estate free for all to enjoy.”
