Cruise ship crew's fundraising marathon for Torquay disabled sailors

An Easter relay marathon on-board cruise ship Queen Mary 2 has raised much-needed funds for the Disabled Sailing Association in Torquay.

The crew of the cruise ship currently off Babbacombe, Torquay, smashed their £500 fundraising target with more than £1,000 so far collected.

In his appeal message, organiser Gerry McCabe, the ship’s chief doctor, said: “The Disabled Sailing Association (DSA) is a Torquay-based sailing charity, run for the disabled, by the disabled.

“Locally anchored cruise ships have chosen to support this charity. Their crew ran a marathon in relay teams around the ship decks over the Easter weekend.

“We would like to thank everyone who has sponsored and supported them for this very good cause.”
