Cricket: All-rounder Craig Eaves returns to Brixham with eye on overdue promotion

Torbay Weekly

Brixham Cricket Club will try to halt their slide down the Devon League and win an overdue promotion under a new captain, Craig Eaves, next season.

Relegation on the last day of the 2021 campaign saw Brixham, a Premier side as recently as 2016, drop into D Division West for the first time.

But all-rounder Eaves is back after five years working and playing in Sussex, and players returning include Tim Robinson and Tom Blundell after stays with Paignton.

The club is also planning to restart a 2nd XI.

Pakistani pro Abdul Muzammil scored almost 600 runs in a vain attempt to keep Brixham up last season, but he is leaving, with Eaves telling the Devon League website: "We don't feel the need for an overseas player at the moment."
