Jeff Keast, SWCRL secretary, in announcing the final league placings said: “After no regattas in 2020 there were nine regattas in 2021 with Dartmouth Royal Regatta hosting their first coastal races.
"A record number of entries in 13 categories saw the largest number of rowers competing throughout the season.
"On offer were four main trophies for the quad categories, nine pennants in the singles and doubles and the Gill Mannings Cox overall champion trophy.”
There were two trophy wins each for Jurassica and Teign Scullers but the 2021 SWCRL overall champions were Exmouth Rowing Club.
Jeff added: “It was great to see so many new clubs and individuals. Exmouth RC, Mayflower ORC, Teign Scullers, Torquay RC hosted regattas with Jurassica, Bideford Blues, Carrick RC, Dolphin RC, WSRA, Christchurch RC, Lymington RC and the Barbarians who drew rowers from Bristol, London and the south coast.
“Massive thanks to everyone who took part in this season’s regattas and helped make our wonderful sport of coastal rowing grow.
"This was evident at the British Rowing Offshore Championships held in Exmouth, the Worlds in Portugal and the Europeans in Italy where SWCRL rowers excelled.”
