Paignton Community Larder has launched its annual Christmas hamper appeal - and hopes to make Christmas a little bit more special for 120 local families.
Supporters can either take part in the 2021 reverse calendar or sponsor a Christmas hamper.
Anita Davies, joint co-ordinator of the appeal, said: "Paignton Community Larder are a foodbank that help struggling families and individuals who find themselves in a place of hardship.
"We offer support not only with food but with other programs and signposting to different organisations to help them get back on their feet.
"Getting people the support they need is what we strive to do.
"This has been more difficult to do over the past years but we have persevered and helped more people than ever before."
Since opening four years ago, Paignton Community Larder has sent out 7,593 food parcels - which equates to 194,724 meals.
Andy Bichard, new to the team and working alongside Anita, said: "This Christmas, as in past years, Paignton Community Larder are hoping to send out at least 120 Christmas hampers to those in need within our Paignton community - making Christmas a little bit more special for desperate families.
"We need your help by either collecting specific items on our reverse Christmas calendar list or sponsoring a hamper at £30.
"More than 30 items will end up going into our hampers including fresh chicken, fruit and veg, as well as treats and other necessities. Also included will be games for families and children.
"We hope to provide some smiles and happiness to those who face hardship and ensure no one goes without.
"‘All the Christmas hampers are referred to us by schools and other organisations that cover Paignton," added Anita.
"We are part of the Torbay Food Alliance and work closely with the Torbay Community Helpline who work across the whole of Torbay. Together we will make sure that no-one in our community will go hungry this year."
