Two more local bowlers have been awarded county badges and can now represent Devon in competitive and friendly fixtures.

Paignton Torbay Bowling Club held a celebratory day last Thursday to mark 100 years of bowling at the club.

They played a friendly celebration fixture, at their Queen’s Park Road base in Paignton, against a Bowls England representative team, featuring bowlers from across eight different counties.

The day also recognised club secretary Val Rounsley and men’s captain Rob Gardner for proudly achieving county status.

Both have accumulated 30 points by winning at least 30 competitive games and getting to a sectional final.

It’s a double celebration for Rob, as he collects his county badge this week at Culm Vale BC, Cullompton, on his birthday!
