Brixham literally turning tables upside down

Torbay Weekly

What a difference a month makes! Only a few weeks ago Brixham had lost five games in a row and were looking anxiously over their shoulders at the bottom of the Tribute South West Premier Division table.

But the Fishermen have turned things around in style. They deservedly beat Old Centralians (Gloucester) 32-23 at Astley Park on Saturday for a third successive win, and they're now looking up from eighth place instead of down.

They were always in charge at the weekend, leading 20-11 at half-time, and tries by Matt Crosscombe, Ricky Workman (2), Jean-Pierre Simonetti and Kyle Lane were topped up by a penalty and two conversions from Joel Ashworth.

In Western Counties West Division, Paignton and Newton Abbot both took the chance to register solid away wins at Honiton and Kingsbridge respectively.

Torquay Athletic's poor away form continued with a 51-17 defeat at in-form Bude - that's 149 points they've conceded in their last four road trips.
