Breakwater Bash success for Torquay crews

Mayflower Offshore Rowing Club hosted the first South West Coastal Rowing League regatta of the 2021 season.

The Breakwater Bash in Plymouth Sound was rowed over four- and six-kilometre courses.

Torquay Rowing Club boated two crews during the day with some success.

Richard Cudmore and Ian Wilson were outstanding in the Men’s Masters double sculls romping away to win in 32 minutes and seven seconds.

Torquay’s Men’s quadruple sculls crew of Stuart Williams, Kevin Weyman, Kevin Bowers, Joe Ross and coxswain Richard Cudmore, sculled to a creditable sixth place following some skilful coxing from Richard Cudmore.

Next regatta in the series is the Parson and Clerk at Coombe Cellars on June 19.

Results: Ladies' quads - 1 Jurassica, 2 Barbarians, 3 Exmouth A. Men's quads - 1 Barbarians, 2 Teign A, 3 Jurassica. Masters' quads - 1 Jurassica, 2 MORC B, 3 Exmouth A.

Mixed 2x - 1 Teign: Wendy and Patrick, 2 MORC: Heather and Tom. Men's Mas 2x - 1 Torquay: Richard Cudmore and Ian Wilson. Men's 1x - 1 Will Loftus, Exmouth; 2 Gian luc Angiolini, Barbarians; 3 Dennis Engelke, Barbarians.

Men's Master's 1x - 1 Rich Neall, Barbarians; 2 Bob Cottell, Barbarians; 3 Jan Chadaj, Barbarians. Mixed quad - 1 Teign A, 2 Exmouth A, 3 MORC B. Ladies 2x - 1 Anna/Judith, Exmouth; 2 Julia/Lucy, Barbarians; 3 Jane/Kirsten, Barbarians.

Ladies 1x - 1 Kath Jackson Jones, Barbarians; 2 Claire Jamison, Barbarians; 3 Ellie, Barbarians, 4 Fiona Pink, Exmouth.

Clevedon RC entered a Celtic longboat in ladies, men's and mixed races.
