Bay's touch of rain, frost and, wait for it, snow!

Snow and sleet in Torbay? Yep, that is what January threw up according to our official weather reports.

They are courtesy of Mark Baker, of Oldway, Paignton, and are reported by long-term weather observer and former deputy borough meteorologist Mark Rowe.

Rainfall in the month totalled 118 mm or 4.64 ins. The long-term average for the month being 109mm

The wettest day was January 20 with 20 mm. Ther were five dry days and five days with a 'trace' recorded.

January 2020 recorded 128mm with January 2019 at 55mm.

There were slight snow flurries late on the evening of January 2 with sleet in the early hours of January 24.

Snow settled on higher elevations in Torbay, especially around Watcombe Heights and in parts of Teignbridge that Sunday morning.

Four air frosts were recorded on January 1, 7, 10 and 25 with the coldest night being January 10 with minus 3.3c./27 f.
