Torbay businessman Tim Cowell is dedicating his new year in office as captain of Torquay Golf Club to raising money for Rowcroft Hospice. And he is starting with a bit of piracy.
Tim says: "It's a great honour to be captain of Torquay Golf Club. This is a role I take very seriously and one that gives me the opportunity to support a charity that's close to my heart - Rowcroft Hospice.
"I have personally witnessed the unbelievable support they give to people living with life-limiting illnesses and the end-of-life care they provide.
"With escalating pressures on their services, and vital fundraising events cancelled due to the pandemic, Rowcroft Hospice needs our support more than ever to continue providing care for more than 2,000 people a year across South Devon."
Tim's Captain's Day on Saturday July 31 is the biggest single fundraising event in his calendar. It will have a Pirate theme. The day will comprise a fun, four-person team event, competitions for the longest drive and nearest the pin holes, a chance to 'Beat the Pro', half-way house refreshments and a Pirate- themed disco and buffet with music from the Vinyl Avengers
Tim is asking for donations to be made to a JustGiving page he has set up. You can reach it here. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tim-cowell1
He is also appealing for any raffle prizes to be sent to his home address, 1 Drake Avenue, Torquay, TQ2 6JL or by calling 07713 601799 to arrange collection.
