Torbay AAC athletes kicked off the new year by competing in local and out of county fixtures.
Debbie Drake completed the Bell Challenge Ultra Marathon, a four-day timed challenge event which took place from New Year's Eve until January 3 at Budleigh Salterton.
Each day had a seven-hour cut-off to do as many laps as you wanted.
One lap was 5.3k so four laps would give you a half marathon, eight laps would give you full marathon distance, and nine or more laps for an ultra.
The course was undulating with good support and a friendly atmosphere. Heavy rain with windy and sunny spells was the order of the warm winter’s day.
Debbie took on the challenge of the ultra and completed the 29.61 miles in 5.24.32
Nine Torbay AAC junior and adult members were either selected to represent Devon or entered individually for the South West Cross Country Championships at RNAS Merryfield in Somerset.
This event attracts the regions best cross country runners.
Despite unseasonably warm temperatures it felt quite cold in the squally showers, which made the course with its short sharp hills, very boggy.
Full results on the day were: U13G 2,750m, 8 Paige Quinn 10.48. U15B 3,400m 21 Liam McQueen-Mason 11.54, 50 Thomas Ward 13.02, 57 Oscar Eve 13.29. U17W 4,750m 40 Emma Harrison 23.40.
