Ami puts ups and downs of life into words

Torbay Weekly

Torbay performer Ami Lauren has produced a fantastic new book ‘Career Chameleon’, charting her many fascinating stories from a life on stage.

Ami is the grandaughter of well- known entertainers and theatrical agents Billie & Trevor George and daughter of award-winning international illusionist Anna Merlina (Anne George).

Ami was born into a showbiz family and grew up amongst entertainers, music, dance and plenty of magic!

This gave her an appetite for the different and unusual as she went on to develop many skills in the world of performance, which has always played a huge part in her life and career.

However, her desire for variety and to embrace the numerous different facets of life led her to embark upon a whole host of other interesting occupations and experiences along the way.

Her story, quite unlike the traditional rags to riches tale, weaves its way through a myriad of experiences from diligently "mucking out" stables to colourful, effervescent song and dance performances, touring the UK as a magician and travelling extensively overseas.

Ami's positive approach to life and her sparkling smile shine through the pages of this 'no holds barred' and beautifully diverse memoir where a dazzling kaleidoscope of reflective highs and lows influence her many life and career changes.

Each chapter offers a brave and unconventional response to the ups and downs of life, including humour, tears, honesty and plenty of rhythm and flow.  Career Chameleon is visual, tactile, thought-provoking and highly entertaining.

Ami is passionate about helping others to achieve or realise their dreams and her book shows us how we can reinvent ourselves to live and enjoy our own unique journey.  Let's face it, we all need a few sequins in our lives!

Career Chameleon: One Life, Many Careers, A Mind Lost and Found is available to purchase through Amazon, where one reviewer said: “I read this book in one evening! I was hooked on stories of cabaret from the 90s & 00s and all the other many jobs Ami has done. She has an engaging, infectious way of telling a story that had me turning the pages all night.”
