Alison has no limits - and that's why she's in line for top award

Torquay-based business owner Alison Benney has been nominated for a national She Has No Limits Award.

Alison has been nominated as ‘an aspirer’ - someone who has demonstrated a consistent and tireless commitment to working on her personal and professional growth.

She was nominated by client, Helen Foord of marketing agency ELE Global, who said: "Alison leads by example and, as a result, is an inspiration to clients and colleagues alike.  Not only is Alison consistently aspiring to ‘bigger and better’ within her own life, she inspires those around her to do the same.

"She is aspirational in everything she does – whether helping clients with HR, inspiring members of her team, mentoring students, supporting and encouraging young people through local initiatives or whether she’s inspiring legion local business-women to recognise that they can have a voice; they can be heard; they can succeed.”

Alison's career started with the management of the family hotel business and subsequently with Grand Metropolitan and the Burton Group – the first half of Alison’s career was taken up in business operations.

It gave her a unique ability to understand the operational pressures faced by business-owners and the value of someone who will take away some of the “hassle factor” of managing people.

Alison went on to retrain as an HR professional, before gaining in-house experience working in personnel and human resources with WHSmith, Whitbread/Marriott, UNITE and Securitas. She formed enlightenHR in 2004 to focus on delivering plain English HR support to SMEs and business-owners across the UK.
