Tributes have been paid to a former South Devon amateur football manager who has died after a brave battle against cancer.
Alan Lewis, who was in his 50s, had been involved with Kingsteignton Athletic Football Club for about 15 years as a player, coach and manager.
He lived in Kingsteignton after moving to the area from the Midlands.
Kingsteignton FC said in a statement: "We have lost our respected and dear friend of the club, Alan Lewis, after a long battle with cancer. Al was brave to the end and inspirational in his conduct.
"His management of our first team resurrected its fortunes and made the game fun for everyone who worked with him.
"The dedication he showed the club is something to be respected and we are thankful to have had the privilege of his football expertise and of course his social expertise.
"He will be missed. Our thoughts are with Rose and all of Al’s immediate family and circle of close friends.
"Al, you deserved better but you certainly fulfilled a lot and left us all with great memories and a feeling of being privileged to have known you."
