A special day to remember Frank

Joseph Bulmer

Torquay United are declaring next Tuesday's home game against Aldershot Town as 'Frank O'Farrell Day' as a tribute to their legendary former manager who died recently at the age of 94.

It is the first match-day when the Gulls can honour O'Farrell, who went on from more than three years of success at Plainmoor in the late-1960s to manage Leicester City, Manchester United, Cardiff City and Iran before returning to Torquay at the end of his career.

Leicester and Manchester United players sported black armbands in memory of the Irishman at their matches at the weekend.

Weymouth - O'Farrell moved from the Terras to join United in 1965 - visit Plainmoor next Saturday (March 26), but there are already other events booked then, including National Lottery Weekend, and the Gulls did not want anything to impinge on their tribute to O'Farrell.
