Torbay Weekly

Torbay Police and Community choir are Celebrating their 50th Anniversary with a joint Concert at St. Luke’s Parish Church in Torquay on Saturday, June 11 from 7pm.

They will be joined by the Abertillery Orpheus Male Voice Choir. Tickets are available on the door at £5.

The Torbay Police and Community Choir was formed in 1972. The aim was to join in song for both enjoyment and to raise money for deserving charities.

The choir, originally, only had serving officers but soon opened it’s doors to retired and civilian staff within the force, then later to gentlemen from all walks of life.

The choir has enjoyed visits both home and abroad, singing with other choirs in Yorkshire, Kent, Wales, Germany and Holland. It has helped raise funds in excess of £400,000 in 50 years and still continues to raise money for charities and other causes.
